3-fer Friday

Happy Friday!  3-fer is a feature where I will make three cards or papercrafted items that all share one common element.  This time, I have used the Hero Arts stamp, "Butterfly Flowers," three different ways.  I was feeling fall-ish so all three cards have a warm color palate. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the 90-degree weather we are continuing to enjoy.

The Butterfly Flowers stamp is used as part of the background in this first card. The image is white heat embossed on white cardstock. Distress inks in Fired Brick, Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade were rubbed on to the cardstock using a foam applicator. I dribbled dots of Walnut Stain Distress Ink over the background with a paint brush and water. I edged the background panel with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I lightly stamped the Butterfly Flowers image with Fired Brick Distress Ink on diecut white cardstock. I stamped the Hero Arts sentiment with Memento Rich Cocoa. A scattering of tiny rhinestones and a sheer swirled ribbon from Maya Road finish the card.

For this card, the Butterfly Flowers image is used as a focal point. First it was stamped with Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa and colored in with a Brick Beige E31Copic Marker.

I stamped a second copy on white cardstock and colored it in with brighter color Copic markers. For contrast and dimension, I cut pieces from this second image and adhered them with pop dots to the base image.

Copic Markers: YR04, YR07, Y13, Y15, Y17, YG05, E31
Cardstock:  Neenah Solar White, SU! Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie and Crumb Cake.
Letter Stickers: The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby)

The Butterfly Flowers image is used as a focal point again on this small note card (3.75"w x 4.25"h). This time all the color is in the stamping. I tapped the image onto Fired Brick and Orange Marmalade Distress Ink pads before stamping onto white cardstock.

I got a little carried away with the Stampin' Up! Color Spritzer and a Chocolate Chip marker. The tag piece at the bottom was coffee stained.

Finally, I streaked white crochet thread with an orange Copic marker to mimic Baker's Twine. The whole focal piece is attached to the card base with pop dots.

Cardstock: Neenah Solar White, Bazzill Painted Dessert, SU! Soft Suede.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Summer Card Camp Week 4

Wow, the last week already!  I wish it could go on and on!  This is not my usual style card, but it just happened.  I'll call it Wonky Circles.  Almost makes you dizzy, doesn't it?

Just various punched paper circles and a stamped sentiment. The sentiment is from Inkadinkado and the paper is from PTI, SU and Bazzill.  Thanks for looking!

Summer Card Camp 2011 Week 3

These colors were a challenge!  Overall I'm pleased with my card, but do wish there was more "color" in it. :-) Created using Jennifer McGuire's "fingerinking" technique and Distress Inks. My fingers turned an odd purple color for a couple of days even when I scrubbed them!

The Hero Arts butterfly is embossed in silver for a bit of sparkle. After cutting out the image, I went in and darkened a couple of areas with Walnut Stain ink with water and a paint brush. I also put red dots in the small spots on the wings with a marker, but you cannot tell from the image, or even in person.

The sentiment is from PTI's Beyond Basic Borders, backgrounds from Hero Arts (Friends Definition) and Hero Arts (Antique Brocade) and card stock from Bazzill (Red), Neenah (Solar White), PTI (Kraft) and Stampin Up! (Chocolate Chip). The charm is from Lost & Found by Blue Moon Beads. Rhinestones, brads, an eyelet and a bit of rustic twine finish the project.

Summer Card Camp 2011 Week 2

These are not my favorite colors, but, wow, once I started working with them, I loved the sunny look!  The card below was created by stamping the Hero Arts Butterfly Flower image repeatedly on PTI Kraft cardstock.  I colored the images with Copic markers and added dots with a Sharpie white marker.  The bow and butterfly accent are Crushed Curry by Stampin' Up!  Finally, edged with PTI white ink and added a couple of bright rhinestones.    Thanks for looking, have a great week!

Summer Card Camp Polka Dot Fun PT 2!

Had fun with the first card, so here are more polka dots.  This one is more whimsical.   Watercolor circles and white circles stamped with Hero Arts Friend Definition stamp in Antique Linen distress ink on PTI Kraft card stock.  The ribbon is from Michaels.  The Love you stamp is two small clear stamps. One is by K&Co and the other by Hampton Art. Punch is by EK Success.  Again, it's a scanned image so the colors are washed out, even with editing.

Polka Dot Fun with Summer Card Camp 2011!

Week 1 of Summer Card Camp 2011 with Kristina, Jennifer and a host of wonderful guests. No need to leave home or put sunscreen on!  Certainly no mosquitoes!

Here is my take on the first color challenge.  Scanned images don't do well, but I hope you get the idea!

The Polka Dot Birthday card was created with Stampin' Up! Markers and a PTI Polka Dots stamp.  Ribbon is PTI and the Happy Birthday stamp (orange SU marker) is by Hampton Art.

Hello!

Here is my attempt at a blog and a post -- a little late start on my New Year's resolutions! Guess who hasn't started her diet yet either?

I made this card for my brother. Not quite as masculine as I would like it, but I wanted bright, cheerful colors for the hot air balloons. This is my favorite set by Papertrey Inc.

The technique involves versamark and 2 coats of white embossing powder for the clouds, colored pencils and OMS for the balloons and a couple of spritzes of Glimmer Mist over Spring Rain cardstock for the background.

   Thanks for looking!

Cardstock: Rustic White, White, Spring Rain by Papertrey Ink. Black by Bazzill
Stamps: Up, Up and Away by Papertrey Inc.

Other: Autumn Nights Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels; white embossing powder by Stampendous; Rustic Jute Button Twine by Papertrey Ink; Prismacolor pencils, Sansodor (solvent for pencils) by Winsor & Newton
